Dirk
Hartog Mad Fish 2004 (DHMF2004) is the first annual fishing competition
to be held in the waters off Dirk Hartog Island. Every week between
March and October the Island's homestead and camping guests along
with prearranged boat groups have the opportunity to enter the competition,
the aim being to catch the biggest fish.
Each
week the competitor with the largest fish will win a weekly prize
which could include MadFish wines and merchandise, Halco lures,
Platypus Line spools, Coco's Riverside Bar and Restaurant vouchers
and Western Angler annual subscriptions.
Dirk
Hartog Mad Fish 2004 aims to raise significant funds for the Royal
Flying Doctor Service of Australia, with 90% of all funds raised
going to the RFDS and the remaining 10% being used to upgrade the
Island's airstrip.
The
RFDS are a not-for-profit organization which provides essential
health care and medical emergency services to people who live, work
and travel to the remote regions of Australia. The RFDS currently
covers an area the size of Western Europe and attends to approx.
36,000 patients a year.
DHMF
2004 aims to raise funds to help ensure that the RFDS can continue
it's amazing work in the years to come, if you would like to learn
