All guests and visitors to Dirk Hartog Island are asked to abide by the rules and regulations set out in the following information. Those who do not will be asked to leave the island will not be permitted to return.

Fires:
Fires are allowed in designated camping areas only. They must be supervised at all times and put out before leaving the campsite.

Firewood:
All visitors requiring firewood should bring it on to the island with them, visitors should not use trees or shrubs from the island for firewood.

Camping Areas:
There are 6 designated campsites on Dirk Hartog Island. Visitors who are planning to camp must do so at one of the designated sites. There is no camping within 5kms of the Homestead. All visitors wishing to camp on Dirk Hartog Island must inform Island Management of their intent before landing on the island.

Rubbish:
All rubbish must be returned to the Homestead rubbish tip in secure rubbish bags. Any person found to be littering will be fined by Island Management.

Firearms:
There are no firearms permitted on Dirk Hartog Island.

Water:
Water is a scarce commodity on the island and must be used wisely. Drinking water is available from the Homestead with prior arrangement.

Livestock:
Dirk Hartog Island is still an operational sheep station and still has 4,000 sheep. We ask that visitors take care when exploring the island and leave all gates and watering holes as they were found.

Flora and Fauna:
Dirk Hartog Island has a fragile ecosystem and as such visitors must stick to the designated tracks while exploring, both on foot and by vehicle.

Pets:
No pets are allowed on the island. A baiting program is currently underway.
