Visitors to Dirk Hartog Island should take the time to explore the island by foot as well as by car and boat. Some of the island's most beautiful cliffs, sand dunes and beaches are best explored by walking.

Visitors can go cliff walking on the west coast of the island, walking 300 ft above the waves crashing below. Cliff walking gives visitors an great opportunity to view some of the plentiful marine life around the island such as manta and sting rays, turtles, sharks, whales, fish and sea snakes.

The calm bays around the Homestead are also prefect for a relaxing walk. Visitors can explore the beautiful bays and take in the amazing marine life from a closer view point. Bay walks are prefect for find amazing shells, starfish and viewing marine life such as fish, string rays and the occasional dolphin.
