Gourmet Island Escape

Thursday 8th August - Sunday 11th Aug 2019

This amazing annual event connected to the Gascoyne Food Festival showcases fresh local produce from the Gascoyne region, including freshly caught Shark Bay seafood, locally grown fruit and vegetables, unique bush tucker and premium wines and beers from WA - all set in this magnificent World Heritage National Park.  Experience stunning local cuisine prepared by chefs from Western Australia at breathtaking locations on Dirk Hartog Island.

We have developed a fantastic programme for the event including:

  • Experiencing the amazing last sunset in Australia atop 600 foot high cliffs whilst enjoying a meal of “Brews & Stews” prepared by our very own Tory Wardle.
  • The incredible campfire cooked Seafood Paella prepared by Russell Blaikie of the Must Wine Bar fame – served in the historic old wool shed with live music to entertain you through the night.
  • Our famous Long Table Luncheon served at the EcoLodge.  George Cooper of Tiller Dining returns again this year to prepare an incredible multicourse meal featuring not only local Shark Bay and Gascoyne produce – but ingredients foraged and sourced right here on the island.

All this combined with 4WD tours to key destinations on the island, an opportunity to learn about the European history associated with the island presented by Ed Fenny of Ocean Park and a not to missed experience to spend some time with local indigenous man Darren Capewell of Wula Gura Nyinda Eco Adventures who will share his knowledge and history of the region through the eyes of the Malanga people  - this is a culinary experience not to be missed which will tantalise all of your senses in so many ways!
